The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as announced by the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

Father and son were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil before the climate conference.

Official representatives have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This involvement featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.

The UN meeting will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.

Recently the prince characterized the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks facing us over climate change, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed participants.
