NFL Roundup: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning go-ahead field goal to secure the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Seals Contest
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.
Record Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields had difficulties all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach stated after the contest.
